VOLLEYBALL ZONES AND AREAS

Volleyball front zone 

On each court the front zone of the volleyball court is limited by the axis of the centre line of the volleyball court and the rear edge of the attack line.
The front zone volleyball court is considered to extend beyond the side lines to the end of the free zone.

This zone is located near the net and is divided into three areas: a. Front Row: The area closest to the net where front-row players, such as middle blockers and outside hitters, typically position themselves. b. Setter's Zone: The area in front of the net where the setter usually sets the ball for attacking. c. Transition Zone: The area between the front and back rows where players move from defense to offense or vice versa.

Volleyball Back Zone 

This zone is located behind the front zone and is also divided into three areas: a. Back Row: The area where back-row players, such as liberos and defensive specialists, usually position themselves. b. Service Reception Zone: The specific area where players stand to receive the opponent's serve. c. Defensive Zone: The area where players position themselves to defend against the opponent's attacks.

Volleyball Attack Areas

These are specific areas on the opponent's side of the court where players aim to hit the ball during an attack. The main attack areas are: a. Line Shot Area: The area along the sideline where players aim to hit the ball near the boundary line. b. Cross Shot Area: The area diagonally opposite the hitter's position where players aim to hit the ball across the court. c. Middle Attack Area: The area near the net in the center of the court where middle blockers aim to hit quick attacks.

Volleyball Serving Zones

These are the specific areas on the serving team's side of the court where players serve the ball from. There are six serving zones, numbered from 1 to 6, with zone 1 being the right back corner and zone 6 being the left back corner.

Volleyball service zone 

The service zone volleyball court is a 9 m wide area behind each end line.
The volleyball service zone is laterally limited by two short lines, each 15 cm long, drawn 20 cm behind the end line as an extension of the side lines. Both the short lines are included in the width of the service zone.
In depth, the service zone extends to the end of the free zone.

Volleyball Substitution zone 

The substitution zone volleyball court is limited by the extension of both attack lines up to the scorer's table.

Libero Replacement zone. 

The Libero Replacement zone of the volleyball court is part of the free zone on the side of the team benches and its limited by the extension of the attack line up to theend line.

Warm-up area 

The warm-up areas of the volleyball court has a size of approximately 3 x 3 m and are located in both of the benchside corners and the outside the free zone volleyball court.

Volleyball Penalty area 

A penalty area has size of approximately 1 x 1 m and equipped with two chairs. The penalty area is located in the control area of the volleyball court which is outside of the prolongation of each end line. They may be limited by a 5 cm wide red line.

Understanding these zones and areas is crucial for effective positioning, communication, and strategy in volleyball.
